India and Liberia on Thursday held discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, including technology, agriculture, health, mining, energy, trade and investment, education and capacity building.
Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti held bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi during his official visit to India on August 13.
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the full spectrum of India-Liberia relations and discussed ways to further expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on regional and multilateral developments.
EAM Jaishankar congratulated Nyanti on the inauguration and opening of the Embassy of Liberia in New Delhi, describing the development as an important step in strengthening diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The discussions also focused on expanding cooperation at multilateral forums, particularly on issues concerning peace, development and strengthening the voice of the Global South.
The two sides underlined the importance of reformed multilateralism, including reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), amid growing calls for international institutions to better reflect contemporary global realities.
