Hindi can strengthen good governance, public outreach of Ayush: Prataprao Jadhav

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, on Wednesday emphasised the importance of Hindi in strengthening good governance, transparency and public outreach of the Ayush Ministry.

Addressing the third meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee of the Ministry at Kartavya Bhawan-I in New Delhi, Jadhav said Hindi should not be treated merely as a formal or constitutional requirement but as an effective medium of communication and public welfare.

The meeting was chaired by Jadhav and attended by Members of Parliament Rahul Singh Lodhi and Gyaneshwar Patil, Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, members of the committee and senior officials of the ministry and its subordinate institutions.

Jadhav said the promotion of Indian languages was aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised the preservation and wider use of Indian languages. He also highlighted the Prime Minister’s use of Hindi at national and international forums, which, he said, had contributed to enhancing the language’s recognition globally.

The minister said he personally encouraged the maximum possible use of Hindi in official work and urged officers and employees of the ministry to incorporate the language into their day-to-day functioning.

Hindi outreach important for Ayush

Highlighting the close connection between Ayush and India’s traditional knowledge systems, Jadhav said Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy were gaining popularity both in India and abroad.

He stressed the need to make knowledge related to Ayush, including research, scientific literature, welfare schemes and achievements of the ministry, more accessible to the public through Hindi and other Indian languages.

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha briefed the committee on steps being taken to increase the use of Hindi in official correspondence, publications, the ministry’s website, social media and public relations activities. He also highlighted training programmes, workshops and incentive schemes aimed at encouraging officials and employees to use Hindi.

The committee discussed measures to further expand the availability of Ayush-related information in Indian languages and improve public outreach.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Ayush’s Hindi house journal ‘Apratim Ayush’ was also released.

Purnima Bose, Deputy Director, Department of Official Language, Ministry of Ayush, welcomed the participants, while Dr. Prakash Kumar, Assistant Director, Ministry of Ayush, conducted the proceedings. Non-official members Markandey Rai, Thinles Dorje, Sunil Mehru, Ramya Krishna Kanaparthi and Hemchandra Vaidya also attended the meeting.
