Delhi Ram Statue: An 81-feet-tall statue of Lord Ram is going to be installed in Mangolpur Kalan, northwest Delhi, as approved by the Delhi Village Development Board on Friday, March 7. It will be set up inside a local Hanuman Mandir Park for Rs 55 crore, with Rs 50 crore earmarked specifically for the statue itself. This comes a month after the Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 metro station was renamed as Shri Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar. The design draws comparison to the well-known Hanuman statue near Jhandewalan in central Delhi, which is already a prominent city landmark. Raj Kumar Chauhan, Board chairperson, said the idea to install Lord Ram’s statue came from a strong demand from the public. He said locals in the area, as well as across Delhi, had been requesting the installation for some time.
The statue will sit on a 10-foot base and carry an ornamental canopy of over 6 feet on top, bringing the total height to nearly 100 feet. To put that in perspective, that is roughly the height of a nine or ten-storey building.

Why the Location is Strategic?
The location was also chosen with a practical visual appeal in mind. The upcoming Mangolpur Kalan metro station sits nearby, meaning that once complete, visitors will be able to see both the metro line and the towering statue from a single spot – much like the view around the Jhandewalan Hanuman statue.
What Will the Statue Look Like?
Officials stated that the Lord Ram will be shown standing on a lotus pedestal. He will be standing in a blessing position with his bow resting on the ground. It is a classical artistic depiction of Ram.
More Than Just a Statue
Along with the statue, the officials will redevelop the entire park into a proper cultural and community destination. It means the landscaping, decorative lighting, better pathways, seating areas, and visitor facilities. The aim is to turn the park into a place where people can visit both for spiritual reasons and simple recreation.
When Will it Be Ready?
Construction is expected to begin around March, following a tendering process that will specifically invite agencies with prior experience in building large-scale statues. The work is estimated to take around 18 months to complete.
The Ram statue project is one of 574 rural development works that the board cleared during Friday’s meeting, which also covered roads, parks, drains, and community spaces across Delhi’s villages and rural pockets.
