A massive fire broke out late Wednesday night at a fish market in Matiala near Uttam Nagar in west Delhi, triggering a large emergency response from fire officials. According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), a call about the blaze was received at 11:55 PM. Authorities immediately rushed 23 fire tenders to the scene to bring the flames under control.

Firefighters began operations to contain the fire, and efforts to extinguish it were still underway at the time of reporting. Officials said no casualties had been reported so far.
Police said the blaze likely damaged several nearby structures. Preliminary information suggests that some shops and huts located close to the fish market were gutted in the incident.
Initial findings indicate the fire may have been triggered by a short circuit, though officials said the exact cause will be confirmed after further investigation.
The fire broke out in an area where tensions have remained high in recent days. A locality in Uttam Nagar has been under heightened police presence after a 26-year-old man was beaten to death on March 4 following a dispute involving a water-filled balloon.
However, police clarified that the fire site is located a few kilometres away from the location of that earlier incident. Despite this, security personnel remain deployed in the area while authorities continue to probe the matter.
