US-Israel-Iran War: The UN nuclear watchdog has no indication that Israeli and US attacks on Iran have hit any nuclear facilities, its chief Rafael Grossi told the agency’s Board of Governors, moments before Iran’s envoy said one was targeted a day earlier, news agency Reuters reported. The major conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States entered its third day today, March 2.
Iran’s nuclear programme has been among the reasons Israel and the US have given for the attacks, alleging Iran was getting too close to being able to eventually make an atom bomb, the report said.
What Rafael Grossi said
“We have no indication that any of the nuclear installations … have been damaged or hit,” International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi said in a statement to a meeting of his agency’s 35-nation Board of Governors.

Moments later, Iran’s ambassador to the IAEA, Reza Najafi, told reporters outside the closed-door meeting that the sprawling nuclear complex at Natanz had been attacked
Natanz housed two uranium-enrichment plants that were attacked in June – an above-ground one that the IAEA says was destroyed and an underground one that was at least badly damaged, among other facilities.
“Again they attacked Iran’s peaceful, safeguarded nuclear facilities yesterday,” Najafi said. Asked by Reuters which facilities were hit, he replied: “Natanz” and left.
Iran-US conflict
Tensions between Iran and the US escalated into open military conflict, reportedly triggered by failed nuclear talks, Iran’s crackdown on domestic protests and US threats of action.
On February 28, 2026, the US and Israel reportedly launched coordinated strikes (Operations Roaring Lion and Epic Fury) targeting Iranian military sites, nuclear facilities, and leadership in Tehran, Isfahan, and other cities.
As a result, Iran retaliated immediately with missile and drone barrages targeting US bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia, along with strikes on Israel. Explosions reportedly hit civilian areas, including Dubai and other locations.
Trump warns Iran
President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran, urging the country to surrender its weapons in exchange for “full immunity” or face “certain death.”
In an address, Trump framed the appeal as part of a broader effort to prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear threat. He accused the Iranian regime of nearly five decades of hostility toward the United States and Israel, citing chants of “death to America” and “death to Israel” as evidence of its extremist agenda.
“These actions are right, and they are necessary to ensure that Americans will never have to face a radical, bloodthirsty terrorist regime armed with nuclear weapons and lots of threats,” Trump said. “For almost 50 years, these wicked extremists have been attacking the United States while chanting the slogans ‘death to America’ or ‘death to Israel’ or both. They are the world’s number one state sponsor of terror… These intolerable threats will not continue any longer.”
The president’s remarks included a direct appeal to Iranian citizens, whom he described as “patriots who yearn for freedom.” He called on them to “seize this moment, be brave, be bold, be heroic, and take back your country,” pledging that “America is with you.”
