“Stale Eggs, Reused Oil…”: Illegal Samosa Unit Busted in Hyderabad

In a major crackdown on food adulteration, the Hyderabad City Police busted an illegal food manufacturing unit operating under highly unhygienic conditions in Jiyaguda on March 20, 2026. The raid was conducted by the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) of the Task Force in coordination with Kulsumpura Police following credible intelligence inputs.

During the operation, officials found that the unit was being run by a 73-year-old man, Abdul Rasheed, without mandatory approvals such as an FSSAI license, Trade License, or Fire Safety clearance. Authorities confirmed that the unit was violating multiple food safety regulations, posing a serious risk to public health.

Investigations revealed shocking details about the preparation methods. The accused was allegedly using spoiled and substandard ingredients, including stale boiled eggs and repeatedly reused cooking oil, to prepare samosas and other food items. These practices raised significant concerns about hygiene and consumer safety.

Police seized a large quantity of adulterated food, raw materials, and equipment from the premises, collectively valued at around ₹5 lakh. The confiscated items included ready-to-sell samosas of different varieties, raw ingredients like maida and sweet corn, and machinery used in food production.

The accused has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are being initiated under relevant laws. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Task Force officials along with the Food Safety Officer and local police teams.

The Hyderabad City Police stated that it will continue to take strict action against food adulteration and illegal food businesses. Officials also urged citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious or unsafe food practices to help ensure public health and safety.
