A shocking food safety violation has come to light in Hyderabad after city police busted an illegal bakery unit operating under highly unhygienic conditions in Katedan. The raid, carried out by Mailardevpally Police, exposed a disturbing operation where bakery items like donut buns and cakes were allegedly being prepared using rotten eggs and harmful chemicals, posing serious health risks to consumers.

According to officials, the illegal unit was running under the name “Madhurai Meenakshi Food Company” and was actively supplying adulterated food products into the local market. During the raid, police apprehended three individuals involved in the operation. The accused have been identified as Afridi Ansari (22), a supervisor and resident of Katedan originally from Jharkhand, Yaseen (32), the manager residing in Indra Society, Katedan, and Khatreshan, a resident of Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta.

Investigations revealed that the accused were manufacturing bakery products in extremely unhygienic surroundings, using spoiled and rotten eggs along with hazardous chemicals such as sodium benzoate, sorbic acid, and PGPR liquid. These substances, when used beyond safe limits or in improper conditions, can be harmful to human health. The adulterated products were reportedly sold as fresh and genuine items, raising serious concerns about public health and food safety standards in the area.
Police officials stated that a large quantity of rotten eggs, chemical substances, synthetic colours and flavours, and finished bakery products were seized during the raid. Machinery used in the production process was also confiscated. The scale of the operation suggests that the unit had been functioning for some time, distributing unsafe food products to unsuspecting customers.

Authorities have registered a case at Mailardevpally Police Station and initiated further investigation to identify the supply chain and distribution network of these adulterated bakery items. Officials are also examining whether more such illegal units are operating in the region.
This incident has once again highlighted the need for stricter monitoring of food manufacturing units and increased awareness among consumers about the quality of products they purchase. With children being among the primary consumers of bakery items like cakes and donuts, the use of spoiled ingredients and chemicals makes the issue even more alarming.
Police have assured that strict action will be taken against those involved, and efforts are underway to prevent such illegal food operations from endangering public health in the future.
