PNG Gas Connection: The ongoing crisis in the Middle East is affecting India as well. Panic buying is making it difficult for people to obtain LPG gas cylinders. Govt wants to reiterate that we have sufficient availability. 100% gas supply is being made to CNG-PNG consumers. Making efforts to expedite PNG connections, more than 2.50 lakh new PNG connections have been provided in the last 25 days. 2 lakh LPG customers have shifted to PNG.
The government has also announced a new rule: in areas where piped natural gas (PNG) is available, households that do not take a PNG connection will have their LPG cylinder supply stopped after three months. This rule has been issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
In a statement, the Ministry said that under this amendment, state-run oil companies have been barred from providing LPG connections or refills to customers who already possess PNG connections.

- Visit the official IGL website – (https://www.iglonline.net/newConnection)
- Navigate to PNG connection section – Click on “Apply for PNG Connection” under the “Domestic” or “Residential” section.
- Fill the online application form – Enter details like, Name, Address (where connection is required), Contact number and email, Aadhaar or ID proof details
- Upload Required Documents

- Proof of Identity: Aadhaar card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.
- Proof of Address: Rental agreement, electricity/water bill, etc.
- Passport-size Photograph
- Bank Account Details: For auto-debit payments
5. Submit the application

You will receive an application number for tracking.
6. Verification and installation
IGL will verify your documents and may schedule a home inspection.
Once verified, they will install the PNG connection at your premises.
7. Activation and usage
After installation, your connection will be activated.
You can start using your gas connection and manage payments via IGL’s online portal or mobile app.

PNG Gas Connection: Cost of getting Piped natural gas connection
The major cost of getting a PNG gas connection involves the payment of the security deposit. According to Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the cost of getting a new PNG gas connection for household use involves the payment of a refundable security deposit, which amounts to around Rs 7,000. However, the cost may vary based on the nature of the connection and the amount of gas used. The cost also involves the supply of around 15 meters of GI or copper piping. The cost may vary slightly for other city gas companies.
