Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to philosopher, nationalist, poet and thinker Sri Aurobindo on his birth anniversary, recalling his contribution to India’s freedom struggle and his vision of human progress.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said Sri Aurobindo dedicated his life to India’s freedom as well as to the larger quest for human progress.
“Remembering Sri Aurobindo on his birth anniversary. A towering philosopher, nationalist, poet and thinker, Sri Aurobindo dedicated his life to India’s freedom as well as to the larger quest for human progress,” PM Modi said.
He said Sri Aurobindo’s works on various subjects continue to inspire generations across the world.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Sri Aurobindo’s faith in India’s destiny and the limitless possibilities of human transformation, saying his ideas remain deeply relevant even today.
“Very importantly, his faith in the destiny of our nation and in the limitless possibilities of human transformation remains deeply relevant,” PM Modi said.
Sri Aurobindo, born on August 15, 1872, was a prominent figure in India’s freedom movement and later devoted himself to philosophy, spirituality and integral yoga.
