Mumbai: Father, son injured in leopard attack near Kurar village close to SGNP

Two people were injured in a human–wildlife conflict incident reported near Kurar village, located adjacent to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, on Saturday morning. The injured were rushed to Shatabdi Hospital for treatment.

Leopard hides in trench after attack

After the attack, the leopard reportedly hid inside a trench in the area, triggering panic among residents. Forest officials were alerted, following which a rescue team from the national park, along with members of the NGO Wildlife Welfare Association (WWA), rushed to the spot and began efforts to secure the animal.

Leopard darted within an hour by SGNP team

The leopard, which had taken shelter in a trench about 7–8 feet deep, was successfully darted by SGNP veterinary officer Dr Nikhil Bangar within an hour of the team reaching the site. The animal has since been shifted to the rescue centre at Sanjay Gandhi National Park for further observation.
