Kolkata: A male passenger was arrested at Kolkata airport after a young woman co-passenger accused him of molesting her during a private airline flight from Hanoi, Vietnam, police said. According to police, the woman boarded the flight from Hanoi bound for Kolkata and was seated next to the accused. When the aircraft was preparing to land in Kolkata, the Bihar resident allegedly began harassing her. The woman alleged that the man touched her inappropriately during the flight.
The accused has been identified as Abdur Rahim, a resident of Bhagalpur in Bihar. According to the complaint, the woman was seated on seat 26A, while Rahim was seated next to her on seat 26B.
Initially distressed, the young woman raised an alarm inside the aircraft. The cabin crew immediately intervened and shifted the accused passenger to another seat to ensure her safety.
The woman told police that Rahim repeatedly touched her inappropriately during the flight. She initially thought the contact was accidental, but after it happened three to four times, she believed it was intentional. She also alleged that the man made inappropriate comments during the journey.
After the woman alerted the airline staff, the cabin crew intervened and shifted Rahim to another seat to prevent further contact.
After the flight landed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, the airline staff informed security authorities. The accused was detained by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and later handed over to the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport police station.

Police identified the accused as Md Abdur Rahman, a resident of Bihar. Police said a case was registered against him for molestation and verbal abuse. He was arrested and produced before a court in Barasat. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
