Kolkata Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for Kolkata as the city prepares for rain tomorrow. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected to sweep across West Bengal, lasting until March 21. Residents should remain alert as the IMD predicts severe weather conditions that could impact daily life. According to the IMD, favourable meteorological conditions are developing due to significant moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal.
Weather in Kolkata Tomorrow
The met department predicted that the maximum temperature will stay around 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will fall to 22 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the IMD has issued an orange alert for Friday and Saturday. The forecast for Kolkata indicates potential thunderstorms, with rainfall expected to intensify on March 20.
The IMD’s bulletin highlights that residents should prepare for gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometres per hour.
Areas in north Bengal, such as Coochbehar and Jalpaiguri, have already experienced severe weather, including hailstorms and substantial rainfall.
The weather disturbances are causing the sudden shift in temperatures in other states as well. According to Skymet, southern states including Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands may experience thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rain in the coming days. Weather activity is also expected in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Goa on March 20.
