With this win India stay alive in their quest for defending the title. In the previous edition, India had beaten South Africa in the final. Also this is third time, any team have qualified for consecutive finals. India will play New Zealand in the final on March 8 at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

A section of media had reported that Sanju Samson might get an ICC sanction because he threw the helmet on the ground after India’s win over West Indies. Well, former international umpire Anil Chaudhary doesn’t think the same. Here’s what Chaudhary said.

However, former England cricketer Nick Knight has words of caution for Varun Chakaravarthy. According to Knight, Varun is getting too much predictable because of his googlies. Knight adviced him to try new variations. He also suggested that Varun should be brought into attack as soon as Harry Brook comes out to bat. “It will be difficult. As soon as Brook comes into bat, I would put Chakravarthy on, whatever the stage of the match. At the moment, he is bowling a few too many googlies; it has become a little too predictable,” Knight told The Indian Express. “He (Chakravarthy) might just need to add a little more variety rather than bowling more googlies than ever before. But he is a high-class bowler and will be a potent force for India,” Knight added.

England should be wary against Varun Chakaravarthy, especially in the middle overs. The Indian spinner rattled the English line-up in the five-match T20I series just before the ICC Champions Trophy at home last year, taking 14 wickets in that series, including a five-wicket haul. Chakaravarthy is India’s top wicket-taker in this edition of the T20 World Cup and it would be interesting to see how the England players react to him.

One of the battles to watch out for today is Jofra Archer vs Indian openers. The Englishman will be up against the Indian openers who averages just 15.86 after 7 innings. It will be interesting to see how the Indian opener go about their business against Archer.

The left-hander was seen having a lengthy batting session with Gautam Gambhir, and if rumours are to be believed, the UP batter might replace Abhishek Sharma in the playing XI. Adding Rinku won’t hamper the Indian batting line-up as he will bat at no.6 or 7, depending on the situation. In that case, Ishan Kishan will open the batting with Sanju Samson.
