New Delhi: The Chelmsford Road, opposite to New Delhi Railway Station will be closed from February 26 to March 5 due to construction and restoration of a settled sewer line, the Delhi Traffic police said in an advisory on Thursday. The advisory warned the commuters that the traffic on the Chelmsford Road and its connecting roads is likely to remain affected and partially restricted due to ongoing excavation work.
Affected Routes Till March 5
- Chelmsford Road (Opposite New Delhi Railway Station)
- Munjia Chowk Area
- Connecting roads towards Paharganj side
Furthermore, The traffic police also advised citizens travelling to New Delhi Railway Station to plan their journey in advance and allow sufficient extra travel time because the presence of heavy machinery and digging equipment on roads at peak hours may slower the traffic.
In a separate advisory, the traffic police said due to ongoing construction work owing to redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station, one side of Asaf Ali Road, from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate via Delight Cinema, will remain closed till March 12.
Motorists have been advised to take alternative routes to avoid inconvenience and reach destination safely.

Motorists travelling towards Delhi Gate from Hamdard Chowk or Kamla Market roundabout can take these routes to reach Delhi Gate
- Minto Road
- DDU Marg
- BSZ Marg
Those who are coming from Guru Nanak Chowk can take Mirdard Chowk, then Mirdard Marg, then BSZ Marg to reach Delhi Gate.
What Should You Do ?
Delhi Traffic police have urged the commuters to follow traffic rules advised citizens to not park vehicles on diversion routes, follow instructions of deployed traffic police on roads and allow extra time to travel in case of heavy traffic. Traffic police also requested commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on duty for smooth regulation of vehicles.
