Days after two women aged 18 and 20 were found dead inside a Temple bathroom in Surat, and the police found ChatGPT searches of ‘how to commit suicide’ on their mobile phones, X owner Elon Musk reacted to the chilling deaths. The Tesla CEO in a one-word response to a post on the women’s use of the AI-generated platform for suicide queries, Musk wrote: “Yikes”. The women, who are childhood friends, were found dead inside a bathroom of the Swaminarayan temple in Surat’s Dindoli area on Saturday(March 7), with preliminary investigation suggesting death by suicide by injecting poisonous drugs as anaesthesia injections and syringes were found by their side.
Left For College, Never Came Back
The case came to light after the girls one a first-year BCom student at Wadia Women’s College, Athwa, while the other a second-year BCom student at Udhna Citizen College left for college in the morning, but did not return till late afternoon, the family reported the incident to Police. When the cops taking action in the missing case tracked their phones, it led to the Swaminarayan Temple in Surat where one of the girl’s two-wheeler was found outside the temple.
When the police scanned the CCTV footage of the temple, the women were seen entering the washroom. Inside, the girls were found on the floor in an unconscious state and they were rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared them dead.

Dindoli police has registered an accidental death case and started a probe in the case, Assistant Commissioner of Police N P Gohil told Indian Express, “On checking their phones, we have found that they had searched on ChatGPT ‘how to commit suicide’… We also found a news clipping about a hospital nurse who had allegedly died by suicide using anaesthesia injection … we have handed their mobile phones to the forensic science laboratory. The cause of death will be learnt in the coming days.”
“We are waiting for the FSL report to get access to their WhatsApp chats which can provide us a clearer picture,” he added.
