From ‘Accidental Fall’ to Murder Case: Bengaluru Police Arrest Nephew for Killing Uncle Over Property Row

from ‘accidental fall’ to murder case: bengaluru police arrest nephew for killing uncle over property row

Bengaluru News: In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old polio survivor in Austin Town allegedly killed by his own nephew, who initially tried to pass off the death as an accident. The accused, 23-year-old Masrur Ahmed, reportedly attacked the victim, Inayathulla Pasha, after a heated argument at Pasha’s house on the evening of March 1. Pasha ran a two-wheeler repair garage near Shoolay Circle. For the past 11 years, he had been living in a house owned by his elder sister, Usna Banu, under a lease arrangement. Pasha had been divorced for about 14 years and had no children.

According to police, Pasha had been in a long-running dispute with Banu over the house. He had reportedly paid a lease amount of Rs 3 lakh, but Banu allegedly refused to return the money and was pressuring him to vacate the house. This issue often led to arguments between Pasha, Banu and her son, Masrur Ahmed. On the evening of March 1, Pasha returned home after drinking alcohol. Police said Ahmed again asked him to vacate the house, which led to another argument. The verbal fight soon turned violent.

Investigators said Ahmed allegedly assaulted Pasha inside the house. During the attack, Pasha suffered serious injuries and died.

After the incident, Ahmed allegedly tried to hide the crime. Police said he placed Pasha’s body on the bed and told relatives and neighbours that Pasha had died after accidentally falling while drunk. Banu and Ahmed reportedly repeated the same story to friends and family members.

However, suspicion grew the next day when preparations for Pasha’s funeral began. Some of his friends felt something was wrong and approached the Viveknagar police, raising doubts about the cause of death.

When police arrived at the house, they noticed visible injuries on Pasha’s body. Residents and relatives also told officers that although Pasha’s body was lying on the bed, there were bloodstains near the door, which raised further suspicion.

Based on a complaint filed by Pasha’s stepson, Syed Mohammed Ali, police registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Ali told police that Pasha had survived polio in childhood and his left leg was affected.

Doctors later informed the police that Pasha had died due to assault. The post-mortem report revealed that he had multiple broken ribs, indicating a violent attack.

Following this, police asked Pasha’s relative, Attaullah Sharif, to file a formal murder complaint.

Inspector Veeresh R and his team then detained Masrur Ahmed for questioning. During interrogation, Ahmed allegedly confessed to the crime. He told police that he lost his temper after Pasha abused his mother during the argument.

Ahmed admitted that he assaulted Pasha with his hands, pushed him to the floor and repeatedly kicked him in the chest and abdomen.

Police said Ahmed later tried to cover up the crime by cleaning the bloodstains from the floor and leaving the house after placing Pasha’s body on the bed.

Ahmed was arrested on Tuesday and has now been remanded to judicial custody.
