A series of explosions occurred early in the morning in the Paikpara area of North Kolkata, creating panic among local residents. The blasts reportedly took place inside an abandoned local club building. The impact of the explosions was so strong that the tin roof of the club was blown off and landed on the roof of a nearby multi-storey building. A fire also broke out inside the club after the explosions. Firefighters quickly arrived at the spot and began efforts to control the blaze.

The exact cause of the explosions is still unknown, Kolkata police have launched investigation. However, some local residents claim that several bombs had been stored inside the abandoned club. Multiple explosions caused significant damage to the structure, including broken walls. Despite the severity of the incident, no casualties have been reported so far.

According to locals, the club building had been abandoned for a long time. Some residents suspect that certain individuals may have been involved in the incident, possibly due to disputes or interests related to property development of the club site. Some people had long been trying to take control of the club property and might be behind the incident, locals suspect. They have demanded that the police identify those responsible and ensure security in the area. Locals claim, they heard a loud noise around 6:15 a.m. while everyone was asleep. When people rushed outside after hearing the loud sound, they saw flames coming from the club building. Initially the neighbours tried to control the fire by throwing buckets of water before the fire brigade arrived. On being informed few fire tenders arrived at the spot and began efforts to put the fire under control.

Police from the Chitpur police station reached the scene along with fire brigade teams. A bomb squad from the detective department of Kolkata Policelater also arrived at the crime scene and began searching the area, as there were allegations that more fresh explosives might still be present. The area has been cordoned off by the cops and officials have restricted public access while the investigation continues.
