Delhi Double-Decker Bus Returns:: Delhi is just got a classic, authentic touch with the inauguration of Double-Decker buses that bid farewell to the capital a long time ago. However, the old-school buses have a modern pinch. The new vehicles are electric and have open-top tourist coaches. It quite feels like an episode of the popular American series ‘Friends’ that was shot in London. Two friends visiting the British land take a city tour in an open-top coach. This could be the case in Delhi too. People coming to Delhi from across the nation can use these vehicles for their ‘Dilli Darshan’. Interestingly, the route covers all the heritage that reflects the identity of the national capital.
Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta inaugurated the double-decker buses on Friday (February 27), saying that “Now, Delhi Darshan will be a splendid experience.”
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, she added, “Delhi is embarking on a new beginning with its old memories. After nearly 40 years, the double-decker bus has returned to the roads in its electric avatar. Today, the “Dekho Meri Dilli” double-decker e-bus was flagged off from Rafi Marg. This step is an effort to carry forward heritage alongside modernity. This eco-friendly bus will now become a part of Delhi’s identity.”
