DigiYatra Face Scan Fails at Kolkata Airport: Hundreds of commuters were forced to wait for hours at Kolkata Airport on Sunday, February 22, due to technical glitches in the DigiYatra app. Frequent users of the biometric-based access were the most affected, as the system failed to analyse faces, stopping passengers at the entry gates. The disruption comes just days after a nationwide server failure that affected flight operations across India. Last Wednesday, a 43-minute Navitaire server glitch disrupted check-ins and boarding for IndiGo, Akasa Air, and SpiceJet.
On Sunday, the DigiYatra issue continued for several hours, frustrating passengers. Authorities switched to physical verification to speed up the process, but confusion and chaos still broke out. Officials said the disruptions began around 6 am, and the situation worsened during rush hour when the DigiYatra facial recognition system crashed completely.
“Passengers were forced to stand in lines at entry gates from the terminal till the boarding gate. The Digi Yatra facial recognition system was repeatedly failed to authenticate faces of users. Later, they were redirected to physical verification,” a flyer informed.
However, the glitch has been fixed, and normal operations have resumed.

43-Minute Navitaire Glitch Last Week
A major server problem in Navitaire, the software used for airline bookings and check-ins, caused flight disruptions at several Indian airports, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning, February 18. The server failed between 6:45 am and 7:28 am, affecting check-in and boarding systems. Following this, several airports began manual processing to keep the airport functional. Meanwhile, the authorities urged the flyers to corporate during the crisis.
Due to the software glitch, IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, and Air India Express faced delays. At Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), passengers reported long queues, slow service, and confusion at the counters as staff processed travellers manually. Some passengers even missed their flights, causing panic and discomfort across multiple airports.
Officials said the DigiYatra system at Kolkata Airport was fully restored by 8:25 am. “The system has been fully restored. Normal operations are now in place,” they added.
Navitaire is a global airline technology company, which offers a software used for bookings, reservations, check-in and boarding.
