Delhi Weather Today: City Braces for Scorching Heat as Temp Nears 35°C Before Rain Brings Relief

delhi weather today: city braces for scorching heat as temp nears 35°c before rain brings relief

New Delhi: Delhi is expected to see warm weather on Friday, March 13, with temperatures rising close to 36 degrees Celsius before a possible spell of light rain brings relief over the weekend. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded a minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees Celsius on Friday morning. This is 3.1 degrees above the seasonal average, as per Indian Meteorological Department.

The weather department has predicted partly cloudy skies during the day, with the maximum temperature likely to settle around 34–36 degrees Celsius.

Rain Likely on March 15

Weather conditions may change on Sunday, March 15, when the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle in the city.

If rainfall occurs, the maximum temperature may drop to around 31 degrees Celsius, bringing temporary relief from the ongoing warm conditions. The minimum temperature on that day is expected to remain around 18 degrees Celsius.

Weather Outlook for the Coming Days

For March 14, the weather department has predicted partly cloudy skies with the maximum temperature likely to stay around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 18 degrees Celsius.

After the possible drizzle on March 15, temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable in the following days.

From March 16 to March 18, the city is likely to see partly cloudy skies. During this period, the maximum temperature may remain between 32 and 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature could range between 15 and 16 degrees Celsius.

Air Quality Remains Poor

Meanwhile, air pollution levels in the city continue to remain in the poor category. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 219 at 9 am on Friday. As per CPCB standards, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51 to 100 “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 “moderate”, 201 to 300 “poor”, 301 to 400 “very poor”, and 401 to 500 “severe”.

Weather officials said the light rain expected on March 15 could slightly improve weather conditions and offer brief relief from the rising heat in the capital.
