The Design of the Supertree
The Supertree’s design is inspired by the iconic Supertree Grove in Singapore and is also based on local traditions. It has a steel framework structure with live plant material that produces a lush vertical garden. The architects say that it is “Dravidian” architecture that connects the heavy industrial materials of the structure with organic life forms. The tower has two elevators and staircases with several landings to accommodate people with disabilities. (Ai Image)![]()
Dining at the Top
Visitors can choose to view the city from the Supertree either from an enclosed glass viewing area or from the Supertree’s unprotected terrace in order to enjoy the fresh sea breeze. Together, the two decks provide about 3,000 square feet of total viewing area. There is a cafe located on the 7th floor that will open after the Supertree has opened and all operational procedures for the cafe have been determined. (Ai Image)![]()
Addressing Tourism and Traffic Concerns
The park is already attracting nearly 500 visitors daily. The opening of the Supertree is expected to see footfall skyrocket. However, this popularity brings challenges. Local residents have raised concerns regarding traffic congestion on Cathedral Road. Currently, there is no dedicated parking or cab drop-off zone, leading to fears that the new attraction might cause bottlenecks in one of the city’s busiest areas. (Ai Image)![]()
