Massive Fleet Expansion
To ensure wide coverage, a fleet of 220 new feeder vehicles will be deployed. This includes 70 small buses with a 19-seat capacity and 150 microbuses or vans featuring 12 seats each. Frequent Five-Minute Service
Commuters will no longer have to endure long wait times. Currently, feeder services operate at 20-minute intervals, which often discourages use. Target 11 Key Stations
The first phase focuses on 11 high-traffic hubs. Key locations include Thirumangalam, Vadapalani, Koyambedu, Guindy, Alandur, and Meenambakkam. Chennai Metro currently sees a daily ridership of approximately 3 to 3.2 lakh passengers. Authorities believe that fixing the “last-mile” problem is the key to increasing these numbers.
