An incident of assault on an assistant professor has been reported at a medical college in Karnataka after a student was questioned for allegedly cheating during an internal examination. The incident occurred during the Homeopathic Materia Medica internal exam when a student named Shahbaz was reportedly attempting to use a mobile phone to cheat.
Assistant Professor Shivaraj Kumar questioned the student, confiscated the answer sheet, and instructed him to leave the classroom. Angered by this, the student allegedly assaulted the assistant professor. The incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras, providing clear footage of the incident.
College Response and Next Steps
Other students intervened and stopped the assault, after which Shahbaz left the examination hall. The college management has informed the student’s parents about his behaviour and has decided not to allow him to appear for upcoming examinations.
“Assistant Professor Shivaraj Kumar questioned the student, confiscated the answer sheet, and instructed him to leave the classroom,” said a college official. “Other students intervened and stopped the assault, after which Shahbaz left the examination hall.”
As of now, Assistant Professor Shivaraj Kumar has not filed any official complaint regarding the assault.
