Cabinet Meeting Today Outcome: The government on Wednesday approved Rs 33,660 crore Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojna (BHAVYA) to develop 100 plug-and-play industrial parks across the country.

The scheme aims to develop world-class industrial infrastructure, unlocking manufacturing potential and driving India’s growth story, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while briefing reporters on Cabinet decisions.

The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the BHAVYA scheme, which is expected to generate about 15 lakh direct jobs.

Under the scheme, industrial parks ranging from 100 to 1,000 acres will be taken up for the development with financial support of up to Rs 1 crore per acre.

he Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a small hydro power development scheme with an outlay of Rs 2,585 crore to boost the development of 1,500 MW of renewable capacity.

“Small Hydro Power Development scheme approved by the Cabinet with an outlay of Rs 2,585 crore,” Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told reporters after the meeting of the Union Cabinet.

The Minister stated that, from an environmental perspective, this is a significant decision for the country. These projects will be developed as ‘run-of-river’ projects, involving neither the construction of any dams nor the displacement of people.

Vaishnaw noted that there is potential to set up small hydro projects at 7,133 locations across the country, with a total capacity of 21,000 MW. Currently, small hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 5,100 MW are operational at 1,196 locations nationwide.

Each of these projects has a capacity ranging from 1 MW to 25 MW. These projects are scheduled to be implemented over a period of five years—specifically, until 2030–31.

This scheme is expected to attract an investment of Rs 15,000 crore into small hydro projects.
