India will host the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and the BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on August 22 and 23, respectively, under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.

The two-day ministerial engagements will bring together Ministers and Heads of Delegation from all 11 BRICS member countries to strengthen cooperation in youth affairs and sports.

The meetings will be chaired by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, with Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse also participating.

India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 is guided by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting a people-centric and humanity-first approach.

The ministerial meetings will build on discussions held during India’s BRICS Chairship and provide a platform for member countries to advance cooperation in youth development and sports.

Youth Ministers’ Meeting

The BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting on August 22 will focus on strengthening cooperation in youth development and empowerment.

Discussions will cover areas including education, skills, entrepreneurship, wellbeing and sustainable development.

The meeting will also consider recommendations emerging from the BRICS Youth Council Meeting and the BRICS Youth Summit and identify areas for future cooperation under successive BRICS Chairships.

The meeting is expected to culminate in the adoption of the BRICS Youth Ministerial Joint Declaration and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework.

Mandaviya will deliver India’s country statement, while Raksha Khadse will deliver the closing remarks.

Sports Ministers’ Meeting

The BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting on August 23 will focus on strengthening cooperation in sports among the 11 member countries.

Under India’s BRICS Chairship, the Sports Track has focused on traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology, sports manufacturing and the finalisation of a Joint Declaration.

The meeting will conclude with the adoption of the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration.

Representatives from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates will deliver country statements during the meeting.

Sports technology, manufacturing in focus

Sports technology and sports manufacturing are among the key areas being taken up under the Sports Track. The engagements are aimed at enabling BRICS countries to exchange experiences and best practices and explore opportunities for greater institutional cooperation.

The programme will also feature the BRICS Friendship Cycling Event, bilateral meetings and cultural engagements.

The two ministerial meetings are expected to provide a platform for BRICS countries to deepen institutional cooperation and advance shared priorities in youth development and sports.
