The weather in Delhi NCR has once again taken a sudden turn on Monday (March 23), with clouds replacing the sunlight and bringing the possibility of rain. The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for light rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning today due to an active western disturbance. This comes after Delhi on Sunday recorded the maximum temperature at 29.5 degrees Celsius, two notches below the seasonal average, while the minimum temperature settled at 15.6 degrees Celsius, 1.1 notches below the seasonal average.
Rain Likely Across Delhi-NCR Today
According to the latest forecast, skies will remain cloudy through the morning, with light sunshine. By afternoon and evening, several parts of Delhi including North, South, East, West and Central regions, may witness light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. Similar conditions are expected in nearby NCR cities such as Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad.
The minimum temperature today is expected to range between 15°C and 17°C, while the maximum may touch 30°C to 32°C. Despite a slight dip in temperatures over the past 24 hours in areas like Safdarjung and Palam, no significant cooling trend is expected. In fact, temperatures may rise by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius over the next four days.
What Lies Ahead for Delhi Weather
From March 24 onwards, cloud cover may persist, but chances of rainfall will reduce. Between March 24 and 28, most parts of Delhi are likely to experience dry weather with sunny conditions, leading to a gradual rise in temperature. Another weak western disturbance may impact northwest India around March 26, pushing maximum temperatures to 32°C–34°C.
Delhi AQI Today
The air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category at 4 pm on Sunday, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) reading of 153, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
