in burqas, faces covered with dupatta: how a father-son duo pulled off rs 80 lakh heist in bengaluru? bengaluru news

A 21-year-old boy and his father stole Rs 80 lakh-worth of computer parts from a Bengaluru shop. The duo broke into the shop in burqas, using dupattas to cover their faces, and pulled off the robbery. The incident happened at a computer parts shop, located in HBR Layout, Bengaluru, according to a TOI report.

The accused were identified as Hemanth M and his 45-year-old father Manjunath M, resident of T Channaih Layout in Nagawara. However, the two have been arrested by the Govindapura police.

What Did The Father-Son Duo Steal?

The father-son duo stole 444 RAM units and 279 SSDs from a computer shop on the night of March 14. The police recovered all the stolen computer parts from a grocery shop.

Reportedly, the computer store owner closed his shop around 1:40 AM on March 14. When he returned the next morning, he found the cupboard lock broken and Rs 2.4 lakh in cash missing, along with the electronic items.

What Police Found Through CCTV Footage?

The Govindpura police inspector and his team examined CCTV footage installed in the shop. They saw the burqa-clad duo opening the shutter using the key and entering the shop around 2 AM.

They first stole cash from the cabin, then took RAMs and hard disks packed in carton boxes and fled in six minutes, TOI reported. The accused wore gloves to avoid leaving their fingerprints.

Later on March 15, Hemanth was arrested in Chanakya Layout and confessed to committing the crime with the help of his father, who was also later arrested.

Reason Behind the Robbery

Hemanth used to work as a technician in the same shop, but was sacked by the owner a month ago. His younger brother was also working there. After gaining experience, he started his own computer service store.

After the shop owner sacked them, Hemanth and his father allegedly got against the owner and planned the robbery.

After pulling the heist, the duo fled the shop on the same vehicle, driven by Manjunath.
