Residents of Kolkata should prepare for potential rain on Wednesday (March 18) as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for tomorrow. This warning follows recent showers that swept through the city, causing a significant drop in temperatures and indicating a shift in weather patterns across West Bengal.
Kolkata Weather Tomorrow
The IMD has forecast that Kolkata and the surrounding districts will experience thunderstorms and rain over the coming days. Following the squall on March 17, which recorded wind speeds of 72 kilometres per hour (KMPH), the minimum temperature in Kolkata fell to 18.4 degrees Celsius, down by 5.2 degrees from the previous day.
As moisture-laden winds continue to flow in from the Bay of Bengal, residents can expect unsettled weather, particularly until March 22.
The forecast for tomorrow predicts light rain or thundershowers at isolated locations, particularly in North and South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Jhargram, and West Midnapore.
Wind speeds are expected to reach 30 to 40 KMPH, which may cause minor disruptions. The IMD warns that thunderstorms could lead to lightning strikes and strong winds, necessitating caution among residents.
Kolkata Weather This Week
From March 19 to March 21, the intensity of rainfall may increase across various districts, including Jhargram, West Midnapore, Purulia, and Birbhum, with possibilities of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms.
