New Delhi: Residents of Delhi woke up to cloudy skies, light rain and thunderstorms on Sunday morning, bringing some relief from the recent warm weather in the city. According to weather reports, the temperature in the capital dropped slightly compared to the past few days. At around 6.30 am, weather service AccuWeather recorded the temperature at about 20°C and reported scattered thundershowers in different parts of the city.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already predicted light rainfall for Delhi in its weather bulletin released on the evening of March 14.
The weather department said that the city could experience spells of very light rain or drizzle along with thunderstorms and lightning during the morning and forenoon hours on Sunday.
Strong surface winds are also expected during this period, with wind speeds likely to reach 30–40 kmph and gusts touching up to 50 kmph.
Delhi Weather Week Ahead
On Monday (March 16), the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy with strong surface winds during the daytime. The maximum temperature may rise to around 32°C while the minimum may drop to about 15°C.
Similar conditions are expected on Tuesday (March 17), with strong winds continuing during the day. The maximum temperature may remain around 32°C and the minimum around 16 degrees C.
On Wednesday (March 18), thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall are likely in parts of the city. Temperatures may slightly increase, with the maximum expected around 33 degrees C and the minimum near 18 degrees C.
Thursday (March 19) is likely to see a generally cloudy sky, with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees C during the day and around 19°C at night. By Friday (March 20), the weather may remain mostly cloudy with a slight drop in temperature. The maximum temperature may be around 30°C while the minimum could fall to about 16 degrees C.
