air india express hyderabad-phuket flight disrupted in hard landing, nose wheels detached; airport halts operations

Air India Express flight landing issue: An Air India Express aircraft on a Hyderabad-Phuket (Thailand) flight developed a nose-wheel problem at Phuket airport, the airline said on Wednesday. Following the incident, authorities have suspended flight operations at Phuket airport as the aircraft is stuck on the runway.

The number of passengers on board the Boeing 737-Max 8 aircraft was not immediately known.

“We confirm that our Hyderabad-Phuket flight on March 11 experienced an issue with the nose wheel at Phuket Airport,” Air India Express said in a statement.

The nose wheel is an essential part of the aircraft’s landing gear system.

According to flight tracking website flightradar24.com, Flight IX 938 took off from Hyderabad at 6:42 a.m. instead of its scheduled departure time of 6:20 a.m. and landed at Phuket International Airport at 11:40 a.m. local time.

“The crew followed all standard protocols, and guests were deplaned,” Air India Express said in the statement.
