Which Destinations Are Affected?

The BIAL added that the cancellations primarily affected flights operating on key international sectors, including Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dubai and Doha, which witnessed disruptions due to the airspace curbs.

Moreover, officials managing the airport said that the airspace restrictions had a direct impact on airlines on these international routes. Notably, KIA is one of India’s busiest aviation hubs, handling a large number of passengers.

Just two days ago, flight operations were affected at the Bengaluru airport on Monday as well, with 19 flights cancelled during the day, including 10 departures and nine arrivals. The cancellation affected flights to Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dubai, Doha, and Dammam, as airspace restrictions continue amid the ongoing war.

On Tuesday, 17 flights were cancelled at the KIA due to airspace restrictions in West Asia. 8 Arrivals and 9 departures were cancelled. However, the number has significantly dropped, as on March 2, 72 flights were cancelled at the Bengaluru airport, reflecting that the situation has gotten better in terms of flight operations.

Advisory for Passengers

Passengers are advised to remain in contact with their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight timings and travel arrangements. The Ministry will continue to review the situation and provide further information as necessary.

Moreover, airlines are currently assisting affected passengers with rescheduling and refunds, while also making alternative travel arrangements.
