The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested two Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh in LB Nagar. The officers, identified as Pramod Goud and Jatavath Babu Naik, were working at the Cyber Crime Police Station under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate.
According to ACB officials, the officers demanded money from a businessman from Ramanthapur who had approached the police regarding a cyber fraud case in which he allegedly lost around ₹2 lakh. During the course of the investigation, the officers reportedly asked for a bribe of ₹1 lakh to issue a notice under Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Section 35 instead of proceeding with an arrest in the case.
Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and caught the two officers red-handed while accepting the bribe amount. The officials immediately took them into custody and conducted further investigation as part of the anti-corruption operation.
Following their arrest, both officers were produced before the court and later remanded to judicial custody. Authorities said further inquiry is underway to determine whether there were any additional irregularities or involvement of other officials in the case.
The operation is part of the Telangana ACB’s ongoing efforts to curb corruption within government departments and ensure accountability among public servants.
