Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale was one of the most highly anticipated films of 2025. Well, for those who couldn’t catch the film in theatres, the third and final instalment of the Downton Abbey franchise will reportedly be released on the OTT giant, Netflix, today, March 7, 2026. For the unversed, while the film brings back almost the entire cast and characters, including the protagonist, ‘Lady Mary’, portrayed by Michelle Dockery, her husband, ‘Henry Talbot’, portrayed by Matthew Goode, is nowhere to be found. This is especially shocking since he has been part of the original show since its fifth season. So, what happened to him? (Spoilers ahead).
Did ‘Henry’ and ‘Mary’ get divorced?
Before they tied the knot, ‘Henry’ and ‘Mary’ had a whirlwind romance. For those unaware, he was ‘Mary’s’ second husband. In the first Downton Abbey film, it is revealed that the couple have become parents to a daughter. Although their relationship seemed fine at first, after their marriage, things slowly started to go south. Apparently, it was ‘Henry’s’ love for his wife which led him to give up on his passion for cars. At one point, he even confessed that ‘Mary’s’ heiress status was something which made him feel highly inadequate compared to her.
