An elderly woman was found tied up, dead inside her home in Ahmedabad early on Wednesday (March 4), with jewellery and cash reportedly missing from her safe, the police said. The 65-year-old woman was found with her hands and legs tied in her home, located in the Kubernagar area, TOI reported.
The woman, identified as Bharti Bajarang, was living alone near a temple in the Chharanagar locality. The family was alerted in the early hours when a worker employed at the house called the police to inform them that Bharti was lying on the floor and was not responding after he repeatedly knocked on the door.
The incident happened around 11:30 pm on Tuesday when the woman had gone to a nearby neighbour to buy something.
What Family Found After Entering the House?
The family rushed to the residence and tried to open the door. As they found the door was shut from the inside, they forced it open. They saw Bharti lying near the bed with her hands and legs tied with a cloth.
They also found a bloodstained pillow near her head, according to a TOI report. Moreover, the room light was on, and the house looked like ransacked, with the locker open and jewellery and cash stolen.
According to the report, they found that a gold chain and earrings, together weighing about 1.5 tolas, worth around Rs 1.5 lakh, were missing. Additionally, Rs 1 lakh, which was also kept in the house, was also missing.
Police Complaint Registered
Following her death, Sarfarnagar police registered a case under BNS sections 103(1) (murder), 311 (robbery or dacoity), and 331(8) a (house-breaking after sunset and before sunrise), after her son, Hitesh Bajarang, filed a complaint.
According to the investigators, unknown persons entered the house late on Tuesday night and fled the spot after killing the woman and robbing.
