Chennai Weather: Chennai is likely to face heavy rainfall and cloudy sky on Saturday (January 24) as Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert with warning of “Thunderstorm accompanied by Lightning”.
As per the IMD forecast, the minimum temperature tomorrow is expected to be around 22 degrees, with the maximum reaching 28 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Sunday, warning of thunderstorms with lightning. Heavy rain is also expected, with the sky remaining mostly cloudy. Temperatures are likely to range between 23°C and 28°C.
For January 26, the weather department has not issued any warning. The day is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rainfall in some areas.
From January 27 to 29, the IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies, with no major weather disturbance expected.
Coimbatore Weather Updates
Meanwhile, Coimbatore is likely to witness mixed weather conditions over the coming days, with cloudy skies, light rain and a brief spell of thunderstorm activity, according to the forecast. The IMD has issued yellow alert on Saturday.
On January 24, the city may see a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of moderate rain or a thunderstorm. Weather officials have also indicated the chance of a thunderstorm accompanied by lightning. Day temperatures are expected to touch around 32 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may remain close to 19 degrees Celsius.
From January 25 to January 26, Coimbatore is expected to experience generally cloudy conditions with light rain. Maximum temperatures during this period are likely to range between 30 and 31 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures may hover around 20 degrees Celsius. No weather warning has been issued for these days.
Weather conditions are likely to turn relatively stable from January 27 onwards, with partly cloudy skies forecast for the city. Temperatures are expected to remain steady, with daytime highs around 31 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures near 19 to 20 degrees Celsius.
A similar weather pattern is expected to continue on January 28 and January 29, with partly cloudy skies and no major rain activity. No warnings have been issued for the later part of the forecast period.
