The existing Ladli Scheme has been expanded and restructured into the Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana. Let’s check the benefits, eligibility, how to apply, and other crucial details regarding the scheme.

Lakhpati Beti Yojana Delhi Latest Update

The Delhi government has approved the ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’ related to the education and economic security of daughters.

In the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, it has been decided to implement the Ladli scheme, implemented since 2008, in a new form.

According to the government, after this change, eligible daughters will be supported in various stages of education and will be able to get financial assistance of up to about one lakh rupees, including interest in total.

Under the previous structure, 11 thousand rupees were deposited in the name of each eligible girl child at the time of an institutional birth, and 10 thousand rupees at the time of a home birth. Additionally, five thousand rupees was deposited at key educational milestones: admission to Classes 1, 6, and 9, passing Class 10th, and admission to Class 12th.

The Chief Minister clarified that under the new scheme, both the financial assistance and the overall vision have been significantly enhanced.

The scheme will benefit families with an annual income not exceeding 1 lakh 20 thousand rupees and who have been residing in Delhi for the past three years. The girl child must have been born in Delhi.

The Chief Minister stated that the scheme is inspired by the broader vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which seeks to place daughters at the centre of nation-building through education, dignity and self-reliance.

Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana: Purpose and intention

In a press conference, the Chief Minister said that the government wants no daughter of Delhi to leave her studies in the middle just because of a lack of money. With this in mind, the scheme has been redesigned so that the amount of assistance can be increased and the rules can be made more practical.

According to officials, the objective of the scheme is to provide financial support to the daughters in continuing their studies and becoming self-reliant. The government says this will give a boost to higher education.
