Shivraj Singh Chouhan interacts with farmers in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, interacted with farmers in Maharashtra on Wednesday during a visit to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Baleshwar in Ahilyanagar district, reiterating the Centre’s commitment to agriculture and rural development.

The Minister held discussions with farmers on issues related to agriculture and allied activities, and reviewed the implementation of various central government schemes. He also distributed benefits to eligible beneficiaries under several welfare programmes.

Addressing the farmers, Chouhan said agriculture remains the backbone of the Indian economy and farmers are central to the country’s growth. He said that the Central government is taking continuous steps to increase farm incomes, make agriculture a profitable activity and ensure the overall development of rural areas. He directed officials to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and ensure that government schemes reach beneficiaries effectively at the grassroots level.

On Thursday, the Union Minister participated in a Gram Sabha at village Loni Budruk near Shirdi, where he interacted with residents on issues related to village development, employment generation, agriculture, irrigation and basic infrastructure.
