Jaipur experienced light drizzle on Tuesday, while most of Rajasthan remained dry. Moderate to dense fog in several areas reduced early morning visibility, indicating a change in winter weather patterns.
According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, temperatures varied widely across the state. The highest maximum in the past 24 hours was 30.4°C at Jawai Dam (Pali), while the lowest minimum of 4.6°C was recorded at Pali (AWS), reflecting cold nights despite daytime warmth in some areas.
Director Radheshyam Sharma said a strong western disturbance is likely to affect parts of Rajasthan between January 22 and 24, bringing the possibility of winter rains (Mawath). A second disturbance is expected from January 26 to 28, which could further influence rainfall and temperatures.
Forecasts indicate light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions and the Shekhawati region on January 22. Similar conditions are expected in Bikaner, Shekhawati, and parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur on January 23, raising chances of widespread winter showers.
The weather is likely to turn dry again on January 24-25, with minimum temperatures dropping by 2-4°C and dense fog forming in isolated areas during late night and early morning hours. Authorities have advised caution during foggy conditions, especially for road and rail travel, and urged farmers to prepare for winter rains that could benefit Rabi crops.
