Ahmedabad: A routine attempt to clean her teeth turned into a frightening medical emergency for a 48-year-old woman, who suffered an epileptic seizure while using a safety pin and ended up with the sharp object lodged in her food pipe. Doctors at the Civil Hospital successfully removed the pin through a delicate procedure, without causing damage to the oesophagus, as per a TOI report.

According to doctors, the woman was trying to clean a gap in her teeth using a safety pin when she suddenly had an episode of seizure. During the fit, the pin slipped and got stuck in her food pipe near the C7 vertebra, leading to immediate pain and discomfort.

She was rushed for medical attention as the lodged pin posed serious risk, including injury to the oesophagus.
