Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said that India’s economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a key topic of discussion among global leaders at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.
Highlighting India’s active engagement at the summit, Vaishnaw said that the Indian delegation is participating in all major meetings to showcase how the country is leveraging modern technology while ensuring inclusive and equitable growth.
“Today, the Indian delegation is actively participating in Davos 2026 and all major events here. I am joined by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis. India’s presence is being strongly felt here, as discussions on the country’s development and economic growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi are taking centre stage,” Vaishnaw said.
“The leadership role India is playing in technology, and its focus on inclusive growth, are key topics of conversation across all forums,” he added.
On being asked about formal meetings with other countries, Vaishnaw clarified, “The format of Davos is generally centered around panels and bilateral discussions. Trade meetings occur according to each country’s own schedules and negotiations. India is deeply engaged with all major economies on practically all fronts at this point. This is not the forum for delegation-to-delegation meetings.”
The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is being held from January 19 to 23, 2026, at Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, bringing together nearly 3,000 participants from over 130 countries, including a record number of world leaders, CEOs, innovators, and policymakers, under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.”
World leaders from government, business, civil society, and academia are engaging in forward-looking discussions on global issues and setting priorities. The call for bold, collective action makes this meeting particularly relevant.
At the forum, India is being showcased as one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi urged global investors to partner with India in its rapid clean energy expansion, reinforcing the country’s commitment to green and sustainable development.
