India, South Korea agree to deepen cooperation in economy and security

India and South Korea on Sunday agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including the economy, defence, and technology, during talks on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed ways to enhance economic, cultural, and security ties, as well as people-to-people exchanges. PM Modi highlighted South Korea’s advanced shipbuilding capabilities and ongoing collaboration frameworks in future-oriented industries, while expressing India’s interest in expanding cooperation in the defence sector.

Both leaders agreed to intensify collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence and defence, and directed officials to advance working-level discussions.

PM Modi invited President Lee to India, and the South Korean leader welcomed the invitation.
