Home ministry hands over probe into Delhi blast case to NIA

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday handed over the investigation into the Delhi car blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a day after the explosion killed at least eight people and injured several others.

The NIA will formally take over the case from the Delhi Police and examine all aspects of the incident, including the materials used in the blast and possible external connections.

Earlier, teams from the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) had collected samples and other evidence from the site.

On Monday, Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered a multi-agency probe soon after the explosion, directing the NIA, NSG, FSL, and Delhi Police to coordinate in determining the cause and source of the explosives.

An NIA team revisited the site on Tuesday morning to gather additional forensic evidence.
