Actress Shefali Jhariwala’s (42) mortal remains were brought to the Cooper Postmortem Centre on Saturday morning, according to sources at the facility. Reports confirm that the Bollywood actress`s body is currently at the hospital; however, the autopsy has been put on hold due to pending documentation from the Amboli police.
Shefali was reportedly rushed to a nearby private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. In line with standard procedure, hospital authorities immediately alerted the Amboli police regarding the incident.
A mobile forensic unit from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina also visited the late actress’s residence last night to collect possible forensic evidence.
“Only after the autopsy is conducted can a preliminary cause of death be provided,” said a senior forensic expert from a leading city-based medical college. “The findings from the postmortem will guide the police in deciding the future course of the investigation.”
At present, the Amboli police have filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Further investigation is currently in progress.
