Farmers in Telangana’s Mulugu seek agreements with seed companies after losses; over 2,000 acres hit, protests bring compensation

Farmers in Mulugu district will now secure agreements with seed companies before cultivation. This decision follows crop damage across 2,186 acres due to spurious maize seeds. Farmers previously lacked formal agreements, relying on intermediaries. Seed companies failed to implement buy-back arrangements. Financial constraints compel farmers to engage in contract farming.
