Earlier this year, Veer Pahariya made his debut in Sky Force, directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur. The film tells the gripping story of Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya, an Indian Air Force hero who laid down his life in the 1965 India-Pakistan war. Recently, director Sandeep Kewlani opened up about the casting process and why Veer Pahariya was chosen to portray the heroic Tabby.
Kewlani revealed, “Veer deeply connected with the emotional depth of the story. He surrendered himself to the role for two years. We wanted a fresh face for Tabby, free from previous screen baggage. Veer resembled Devayya in personality, quiet, mysterious, and patriotic. Today, Veer is known widely as Tabby.”
Casting a newcomer in such a powerful and layered role was a deliberate decision by the filmmakers. Kewlani further shared, “Veer came through auditions. We considered many names while searching for a new face. Veer was an assistant on Bhediya. Upon meeting him, we felt he was a perfect fit for Devayya’s character.”
What set Veer apart was his courage to take on an unconventional role in his very first film. Kewlani added, “At times when newcomers often hesitate to pick unconventional and unpredictable roles, Veer shattered the wall and delivered a promising performance. Within his first film, he showcased an exceptional emotional graph.”
He continued to praise Veer’s depth, saying, “Be it portraying vulnerability or patriotism, Veer proved that he’s got more potential than what met the eye, and Sky Force was a perfect launchpad for him.”
Veer Pahariya’s portrayal of Tabby has now made him a recognizable face, and fans can look forward to his upcoming projects, including a few musical ventures.
Also starring Akshay Kumar, Nimrat Kaur, and Sara Ali Khan in key roles, Sky Force not only pays tribute to the unsung hero Squadron Leader A.B. Devayya but also captures the spirit of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism with gripping action sequences and powerful emotional beats.
