Boman Irani praises Aamir Khan for promoting films like Sitaare Zameen Par; says, “I think Aamir Khan is doing a magnificent job of bringing films like that to the floor”

Aamir Khan and Boman Irani captivated audiences with their unforgettable chemistry in 3 Idiots. Their roles as the strict professor Viru Sahastrabuddhe and the rebellious student Rancho won widespread praise from both fans and critics. Years later, after the release of Aamir’s highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par, Boman Irani spoke candidly about his former co-star and the importance of SZP in an interview with Zoom.

In the interview, Boman expressed his admiration for Aamir’s commitment to socially impactful films. When questioned about whether Sitaare Zameen Par would serve as a comeback for Aamir following the mixed reception of Laal Singh Chaddha, Boman replied with hopeful and thoughtful optimism.

The actor shared, “I just hope everybody makes good films because the intention to make a good film is there. People appreciate that,” Boman said, adding that Sitaare Zameen Par is a story that holds meaning beyond entertainment. “Stories like this—at least Sitaare Zameen Par—are so important for us to understand what children who are different go through. They need to be identified and treated in a way that helps them.”

He also lauded Aamir for his dedication to promoting meaningful stories, saying, “I think Aamir Khan is doing a magnificent job of bringing films like that to the floor.”

Although he didn’t speculate on the film’s commercial success, Boman ended on an optimistic note, saying, “I just hope the movie does well — and I’m quite confident it will.”

Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to Aamir Khan’s 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna.
