1st Indian reference to Halley's Comet in Sanskrit inscription



A rare epigraphical discovery by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) reveals the first Indian inscription referencing Halley’s Comet. Found on a Sanskrit copper plate from 1456 CE in Srisailam, Andhra Pradesh, the inscription details a land grant by Vijayanagara King Mallikarjuna to a Vedic scholar.
