40 scientists, 3 shifts, 1 mission: Race against time to identify Air India crash victims; some burnt bodies yield DNA only from bones or teeth



Following Thursday’s devastating air crash, the Directorate of Forensic Sciences in Ahmedabad is working tirelessly to identify victims. Over 20 scientists are analyzing severely damaged remains, facing daunting technical challenges. Despite personal sacrifices, including deferred surgeries and separation from young children, around 40 officials from DFS and NFSU are dedicated to this crucial task.
